Maybelline Fit me Foundation: Thoughts & Swatches

Here's my review on the Maybelline Fit me foundation. I purchase this foundation a couple of weeks but I never got around to trying it, so the other day I tested it out. I love trying out new foundations because I have oily skin so I love to try out different foundations to find out if they work for my skin and ones that don't work for my skin and let you ladies in on them. I hope this quick review is helpful for some of you thinking about buying the Maybelline Fit me foundation!


Packaging/Product
I loved the packaging! I thought it looked very chic because of the tall bottle with the black top and I also loved how it had the number of your shade printed on the front of the bottle, which makes it easy to find your Fit. I didn't like the fact that it didn't come with a pump. That's a pet peeve of mine for a foundation not to have a pump because it can get really messy and sometimes way to much comes out.

The product is said to contain no oil in it to allow the skin to breath and feel natural. The foundation is also said to match your natural tone, blend seamlessly, and let the skin breath.

Price

The price for the Fit me foundation is between $7 and $8 depending on where you purchase it.

Shade

The Maybelline Fit me foundation comes in 18 shades. Each skin tone (Light, Medium, and Deep) comes with 6 shades. When I first went to purchase the Fit me foundation I notice right away they didn't have any darker shades. For any of you who has been buying foundation for years you can look at a bottle and tell it's your shade right away, but when I looked in the Deep section none of the shades were my complexion. I'm an NW45 in MAC and an Cappuccino in Revlon, so my complexion is like a chestnut brown or chocolate brown color. I brought the #355 in the Fit me foundation. I was so disappointed with the shade select from Maybelline. This is 2011 and I cant believe people still think there aren't women darker than Halle Berry but anywhos... The shade #355 was alittle to light for me and that was there darkest shade :/

If your an NW47 or NW50 from MAC and a Mocha from Revlon it's going to be very hard for you to find your color match with the Fit me foundation.

Coverage/Finish

The Fit me foundation is a light to medium coverage. If you have pigmentation or acne scars I recommend using a concealer with this foundation because it's not a full coverage foundation. The Fit me foundation leaves a dewy finish on the skin, so it makes your skin look shiny. I definitely recommend this foundation for someone with dry skin because it will leave your skin with a dewy finish.

My Overall opinion

When I first I applied Maybelline Fit me foundation I didn't care for it because of the color. It was way to light when I first applied it. But when I began to blend the foundation into my skin it began to darken up a bit. It was super easy to blend on my skin. Even though the foundation began to darken up on my face the shade still didn't match my jawline and neck, so if I did wear this foundation again I would have to blend it all the way down my neck. However, I like the way the Fit me foundation felt on my skin, but what I didn't like is the coverage. I have old acne scars and after I applied the Fit me foundation you could still see them, so I didn't like that because I like a full coverage foundation. After 2 hours the foundation got darker on my skin which I loved because it started to look like my correct shade and after 4 hours the foundation was still on my face, which I liked because of the staying power but what I didn't like was my faced looked like a bag of greasy fries. My face was so oily! It was gross! I already have oil skin but the foundation made my skin look even more oily. I tested the foundation without a powder but next time I wear it I will be sure to apply a oil blotting pressed powder. All in all I did like the foundation in pictures but I wouldn't wear it for everyday use.

Revlon PhotoReady vs Revlon Colorstay

Hey Dolls!

Revlon has really been trying to stay in the game in order to keep up with high end foundations. And I must say Revlon is doing a great job at it! Many people compares Revlon Colorstay to MAC Studio Fix Fluid and also have compared Revlon PhotoReady to Make Up For Ever HD foundation. I must say Revlon is doing a great job at staying competitive and creating great quality foundation with drug store prices. Today I will be compairing their Colorstay foundation and their PhotoReady foundation. Both are excellent foundations but both are also very different in size, formula, and color.

*Has sheen to it/gives a shiny glow

*Great color

*It drys quickly

*Not Photo friendly

*Only has 1 formula

*Not a wide range of color

*Goes on sheer but buildable coverage

*Great lasting power

*Has 12 colors

Revlon Colorstay

*No pump

*A little runny

*SPF 6

*Matte with no shine in it

*Dull flat color

*Doesnt dry fast

*Great for photos

*Has 2 different formulas: Combination/Oily skin and Noraml/Dry skin

*Has a wide range of colors

*Goes on opaque, but can blend and buff out to be sheer

*Great lasting power

*Combination/Oily Skin has 20 colors and Normal/Dry has 12 colors

Here are swatches of Revlon PhotoReady and Revlon Colorstay

As you can see the Cappuccino in the Colorstay has more of a red undertone and is darker than the PhotoReady cappuccino. The PhotoReady Cappuccino has a yellow undertone.

The PhotoReady Mocha has a more Red undertone than the Colorstay. The Colorstay doesnt really have a Yellow undertone or a Red undetone its a neutral.


Which one to purchase?
If you want your skin to have a matte finish than go with Revlon Colorstay and if you want your skin to have a healthy glowly than go with Revlon PhotoReady.

Would I recommend it? Yes, for Dry skin types

I love that the MAC Studio Sculpt foundation has a squeezable tube!

Here's a Swatch of the shade I purchased. I purchased Studio Sculpt in NW45.

Advantages
* I love the packaging

*Love that it comes in a Squeezable tube ;0)

* It has a gel-formula and feels smooth when applying on the skin

*Doesn't look cakey or heavy when applied

*Makes dry skin look absolutely flawless

*I love that the foundation squeezes out in little dots so it makes it easy to apply

*It leaves a Dewy finish on your skin

*It has alot of SPF in the foundation and didn't create a white or gray cast in photos

Disadvantage
* It caused me to breakout really bad

*After a couple of hours I needed to touch up my foundation -not good staying power because I have oily skin

*Not good on Oily skin, hint keyword "Hydrating foundation"

*the price in my opinion wasn't affordable


My Overall experience
When I first brought this foundation I wasn't aware that it was meant for dry skin. The MAC makeup artist (that I go to faithfully) recommend it to me and I'm a foundation junkie so I wanted to try something new. If I would have known that it was going to break me out for over a month I would have never brought it. I used it for 3 days and than I broke out everywhere :(
I went back to the counter to figure out what was going on and a couple of MAC artist told me alot of people with Oily Skin had been bring it back with complaints of it breaking them out, so I wasn't the only one. Besides the fact that my skin broke out I did love the feel of the foundation. When I applied it the gel formula feels so smooth and creamy against my skin I loved it. I thought the foundation was going to look heavy or caked on because of the gel formula but it didn't at all and I loved the squeezable tube so much, that was probably my favorite thing about it.

TIP: If you have dry skin that I think this is just the perfect foundation for you to try ;0)

Revlon Colorstay Foundation: Thoughts & Swatches

Hey Dolls!

I am in LOVE, LOVE, LOVE with this foundation. I am a foundation junkie! I'm always trying new foundations because I have oily skin and find it hard for me to find a good foundation for me that doesn't streak, separate, or comes off after a couple of hours! Well, I can honestly say I've found one! The Revlon Colorstay foundation for Combination/Oily skin does wonders for me ;0) It blends smoothly on my skin, has great coverage, and stays on for hours!

I purchased both Cappuccino and Mocha, but I wear the Cappuccino shade

ADVANTAGES
* Great Price (between $11 and $14) for a Drugstore foundation- great quality foundation

* Great Coverage -can be applied sheer but you can build up the coverage

* Amazing lasting power -it stayed on for hours even when sometimes I forget my face primer

* Love that it comes in formulas suitable to your skin tone -they have a formula for normal to dry skin and one for combo to oily skin

* Feels light weight and not cakey or heavy at all

* Has a wide range of colors for Women of color -and can mix and match to create the perfect shade

*Great for photos - very photo friendly ;0) I love taking pictures in this foundation

DISADVANTAGES
Doesn't have a Pump -I absolutely love the foundation but I dislike the fact that it doesn't come with a pump :(

OVERALL
I LOVE this foundation! I wear it everyday, it stays on my skin for hours which I have never found a foundation to do so. I also love the coverage. I have alot of acne scars on my cheeks that I got 2 years ago and the Colorstay foundation covers them great. I also enjoy how smooth it feels on my skin it wasn't heavy at all, but still provided great coverage.

MAC Pro LongWear Foundation: Thoughts & Swatches

Hey Dolls!

A couple of weeks ago I decided to run to the MAC store and pick up there new MAC Pro LongWear foundation. I had been hearing nothing but great things about it! But before I ran out and bought it I did watched a couple of youtube reviews on it and read a couple of reviews. Everyone seemed to really be loving it and saying how it really stays on for 15 hours, so I was extremely excited. But on it me it was a completely different story...

...It was absolutely horrible on me :(

When i made it to the MAC store I first notice that the colors were way off. I'm a NW45 and the NW45 looked really, really light. In the bottle it looked like a peachy orange color, so I asked if I could test the shade out. It was extremely light on me and looked white. So, than I asked can I see a NW50 which in the Studio Fluid is super dark on me, but in the MAC Pro LongWear the NW50 was light like the NW45. I asked the MAC girl why are the shades so much lighter than the Studio Fluid and she said they weren't. So when she applied the NW50 on me it was white on me too. It looked horrible!! I decided to buy it anyways because I wanted to try it at home in natural light and give it some time to set in. I figured it would set in and change to the correct color on my skin after a couple of hours. So, when I got home I washed my face, applied my moisturizer and face primer, than later applied the MAC Pro LongWear foundation in NW50 to my face. It was absolutely horrible!!! It stayed white on my face!! I took a couple of pictures than took it off faster than you can say MAC! I didn't like it at all and will never wear it or buy it again. I'm just going to stick with my Revlon Colorstay foundation.

Revlon PhotoReady Liquid Foundation: Thoughts & Swatches

Everyone had been buzzing about this Revlon PhotoReady foundation. Tons of people have been comparing it to Make Up For Ever HD foundation because they both are suppose to be Photo friendly ;0)

The Foundation only comes in 9 shades. This foundation is perfect for someone who has dry or dull skin and want a dewy and glowy look to their skin

Before I went to the store to purchase a bottle i did some surfing on the Internet and I had in my head I was going to purchase Cappuccino, but when I got there and actually saw it in the bottle it looked too light. Than I looked at Mocha and it looked too dark. There was no in between color so I brought both of them.

Cappuccino was too light for me and Mocha was too dark for me so I have to mix them both together to get the perfect color for my complexion.

ADVANTAGES
* Feels light on the skin, doesn't feel heavy or cakey at all
* Has a shiny glow for those who want a healthy looking complexion
* Has a pump -which makes applying foundation much easier
* Amazing Coverage -goes on sheer but can build up the coverage
* It's not runny
* Great lasting power -it lasted all day without a primer
* Great price for a quality drug store foundation -between $11 and $13

DISADVANTAGES
* Not great for photos
* It drys quickly -so you have to apply it fast
* Not a wide range of colors for WOC
* Contains alot of SPF -which can cause a shadow or gray cast for WOC
* Has shimmer in the foundation

OVERALL
There were so many mixed reviews for this foundation. Some noticed a shimmer and others have said they didn't notice shimmer in the foundation. For me, when I first applied the PhotoReady foundation to my face I didn't notice any shimmer. But after I took pictures and a couple of hours late I started to notice the shimmer right away. Also when I applied the foundation around my nose I did notice I felt a tingling sensation. I have no idea if it was from the foundation but it didn't go away for awhile. All in all I did like the foundation but I didn't like how it made my pores on my cheeks stand out in pictures.

TIP: If the shine is a big deal for you, after applying the PhotoReady foundation set it with a blot powder to eliminate the shine.

Today I’m going to do a product review on CoverGirl Queen Collection Liquid Foundation.

The Good
-It’s super easy to color match
-It’s very smooth and light weight, feels like your not wearing foundation
-Its very photo friendy, looks great for flash photography
-Very blendable and easy to apply and blend
-Doesn't take up much room, comes in a very small container

The Bad
-There really aren’t any!

Overall:
I started using this last year on myself and I really loved it. So, I started testing it out on my four sisters and they loved it too. My sisters use to never wear any kind of liquid or cream foundation, or even foundation at all but now you can’t even get them to put this product down! We all liked the smooth finish and how it feels like your not wearing foundation at all, but what I also loved was how easy it was to color match. Usually when Women Of Color try on foundation its either to dark, to light or too red, but not the Queen Collection Liquid Foundation. You get it right the first time! It was so easy to color match people when applying their makeup. So, in my opinion it’s a great product for Women of Color to have. What I also enjoy about the product is it has a range of colors for not only African American Women but Hispanic and Asian Women as well.
